The
Salisbury axle is heavier duty compared to the Rover type axle. It was fitted
on IIa 109 stationwagons from 1971 with suffix H chassis and the series III's.
A Rover typeaxle can be replaced with a Salisbury type but rear propshaft, spring
plates, U-bolts and check straps must also be changed. Salisbury's can be fitted
to 88 inch models but the axle mounts need re-welding and the propshaft shortening.
